R&D Hero Film

Client: AstraZeneca

Director:  Mark Gill
DoP: Fernando Ruiz

AstraZeneca are driven by science, united by science, and every day, they push the boundaries of science to deliver life-changing medicines. There are four essential elements that help them to do this incredible work: working with people with inquisitive minds, using data and technology to support them, working collaboratively as well as in partnership and finally always learning from patients.

These four elements formed the basis of our idea for a Research and Development hero film for AstraZeneca, which features the human form as a canvas to visually convey these messages.

A one-day studio shoot to capture the silhouettes was followed by an intensive period of post-production and VFX to perfectly align the secondary science imagery with the movements of the talent. When selecting the music track, timing was key for bringing together the synergy of the visual elements as well as forming an emotive foundation to the finished film.

The style of this film and the positive response that it received from the client and external audiences, has shaped more of AstraZeneca’s content. Needless to say, we’re proud of the results.
