Winter Wonderland

The Chase Films had the pleasure of producing a mammoth JD Sports’ winter campaign in 2020. The ‘undisputed King of Trainers’ were not only looking to shoot a Christmas ad, but the gigantic set would act as a playground to capture a multitude of brand content, with a slick, stylised look and feel that best showcased the well-known sportswear retailer and its brands.

The cast consisted of some of the UK’s biggest household names in music, sports and TV, who donned the latest athleisure apparel against intricate winter wonderland backdrops. This large-scale production included major set builds across two major cities, a 200+ crew and extensive, detailed logistics to handle the many moving parts and multiple talent to shoot. Scheduling for cast availability was paramount. The star-studded line up included ‘Queen of JD’ Rita Ora, Love Island presenter & Radio DJ Maya Jama, Liverpool FC’s Virgil Van Dijk and British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua as well as others.

The success of the campaign extends beyond the response the hero spot received over the Christmas period, which was impressive to say the least as consumers embraced more casual attire for the lock-down festive season of 2020. The range of additional content we were able to achieve from a multi-day commercial shoot, provided JD and its brands with consistent marketing material that held up for the new year and beyond.
